Vincent Agostino
Vincent is a Melbourne-born, award-winning children’s book illustrator, graphic designer and photographer. He returned from a seven year stay in Glasgow, Scotland, in 2021, and works currently as an Illustration lecturer at Melbourne Polytechnic. Vincent describes his residency at Skymirror Gallery and his artistic concept as a photographer as follows:
“Lake Tyrell and it’s surrounds, the local community and it’s visitors were great to explore. The lake is ever-changing, depending on light, and time of the day. Visitors experience it differently at different times.
My concept involved the process of researching shapes and patterns which are naturally present in the formation of salt structures, when viewed under a microscope. I was inspired by these shapes: triangles, squares and circles, and added them, without diminishing the photographic experience. The colours chosen for these shapes exist naturally in and around the lake, and their transparency strive to enhance emotions of tranquillity and mood through visual graphic abstraction.
